Mister Mummy is a character that I built well over 10 years ago. He was one of my first creations, a cobbled together from a mix of foam, fleece, felt, and a halloween costume from Build-A-Bear. I had never tried snap in bear/toy eyes before so that was a first with him as well. He was a strange and fitting part of the Rotten Puppets Universe.
My original intent was not a serious mummy character but more of a happy go lucky one that doesn’t always understand that he is a mummy, and for the most part he hit that note pretty well. Mister Mummy is likely the least scary monster in the history of the monster universe.
I have always thought about building Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde characters to compliment him but never got around to it. Making a monster series is one of those “if I had the time” dreams.
Mister Mummy in the movies!
After some random photos and horseplay learning how to best use the puppet I went about and made some movies that Mister Mummy was a part of or starred in. One of them was My New Haircut – Mummy Edition which was a spoof of the classic YouTube Hit My New Haircut.
You can watch the video below.
A few months later the 2008 Olympics were in full swing and I wanted to make my own Olympic video. The blogging world was reporting stories, making it about them, and generally exhausting me with garbage content. So I took a hard swerve right and came up with Olympics 2008 – Puppet Combat which is my own idea of an Olympic event, just for at the time my rotten puppets case of characters.
It’s a mix of 80s retro music, crazy puppet violence, and a huge dose of stupidity.
Yes another movie link below be thankful, I’m saving you the click and search 🙂
So now you know a little history on Mister Mummy, one of my earliest journeys into puppetry when I was still just starting out and getting the hang of things. I hope you follow my journey of rebuilding one of my first characters into a more polished version of his former self.
I’m a fleece and fur flying, video game playing, metal loving, princess party having, man of many talents. Living just outside of NYC on the Island of Long.
