The US release might have been sped up by Fortnite Battle Royale launching on mobile earlier this week, another battle royale stylized game that takes PUBG’s core design and packages it up with better-looking graphics (although a little more on the cartoony side) and some gameplay tweaks that have led recent madness like Ninja and Drake streaming on Twitch and breaking all kinds of viewership records. I was watching the stream myself and hats off to Ninja, he has worked his ass off to get to that point and deserves the accolades.
I’m not a hardcore gamer like some of them, focusing on one or two games and just honing that skillset to a crushing level. I’ve been there done that decades ago. Now I’m more into the fun, but don’t get me wrong it doesn’t mean I’m not competitive 🙂
This old dog still has a few new tricks 🙂 I ended up in Siberia grabbing a drink when the game ended and had to run my ass halfway across the map to achieve victory. Awesome moment indeed.
Squad games I have not hit victory in yet but it has been close. So very close! I ended up dropping dead in the toxic zone just feet from the edge with only 5 players remaining. My teammate took out 2 additional players at the end but finally succumbed. Still was a fun team game on a mobile device you really can’t go wrong.
The biggest issue for me is the screen size. I’m on an iPhone 6 and it’s pretty small. I doubt my old iPad Mini2 is going to be able to run this game but I’ll give it a shot later. Would be nice to have the extra visual real estate. Trying now and it keeps crashing at the download/loading screen but that may be from all the people wanting to play tonight. I’ll try again tomorrow.
So as you know, Fortnite is now in a limited Invite release. Luckily for me I have, like many others, have been invited in to play. To be honest, at this point and time it’s a hard pass for me. The controls are just not anywhere near as good in PUBG Mobile which really should be just about identical, but on my phone it’s just not translating to working as easy. PUBG Mobile clearly is the victor here when it comes to getting my mobile shoot on.
You see my name in the screenshots, I’m not hiding online from you suckers. Friend me up, lets have some fun. You’re not going to hurt my K:D ratio if you gank me on Twitch because it likely sucks anyways 🙂
